A Heart On Fire - Part One - Scriptural Christianity

A Heart on Fire
Scriptural Christianity
Doctrine, or right teaching, is powerless on its own to change lives or the course of history. But when sound doctrine is coupled with a heart ablaze with the presence of God, there is real potential for seismic change. Over the next six years, Global Methodists will seek to align our lives with the teachings of Scripture.
Our Strategic Planning Framework has this to say:
"The Bible is not a relic—it is a living word, sharp and active, burning in our bones. We place ourselves under the full authority of Holy Scripture as the true and trustworthy witness to God's saving work in Jesus Christ. It reveals the Father's heart, declares the Lordship of Christ, and drives us by the power of the Holy Spirit into lives of faithful, fearless obedience."
Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." To live out the truth of this passage, you and I need a Bible reading plan. And it has never been easier to stay grounded in God's Word. There are apps that make Bible reading easy, and teaching aids such as Bible Project and Premier Insights that help you understand what you are reading. You can even listen to the Bible if you are not much of a reader.
Whatever plan you choose needs to be something you can weave into your everyday life, so that the Bible becomes part of you, something you keep in your heart, until you begin to think the thoughts of God.
I'll leave you with this. One of the prayers I have written in my commonplace book is: "God, I pray for divine alignment in every area of my life. If something has no place in my life, remove it. If it's out of place, shift it. If it's in place, perfect it. May this be so, that my life might glorify Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
